List of Waterfalls in Gujarat – 16 Awesome Waterfalls

Koshmal Waterfall, Dangs

My second list! Duringย the last summer vacation, I prepared a list of hill stations in Gujarat. The article has since garnered a warm response from visitors and from Google too, itย holds the top spot for the term ‘hill stations of Gujarat’. Taking cue from it, here’s my list of waterfalls in South Gujarat.

Why waterfalls?
Because waterfalls are gorgeous, powerful and mesmerizing, aren’t they? ๐Ÿ™‚

Why South Gujarat?
As I have sparseย knowledge about otherย areas of Gujarat. South Gujarat is home ground for me because my hometown is Vansda.

[UPDATE 05 May, 2017]

I have updated this post to include ALL waterfalls of Gujarat – not just South Gujarat. Below list of waterfalls in Gujarat is the ultimate list you need to plan your monsoon trips in Gujarat area.

I’ve tried to cover all waterfalls known to me. If I have missed any destination, please contact me or leave a comment down.

Happy Waterfalls Exploring! ๐Ÿ™‚

2. Girmal Waterfalls, Mahal, Subir, Ahwa (aka Girimala)

Before going further, let me clear out a commonย confusion of many tourists. The puzzle of Gira vsย Girmal.ย

Both are different.
Giraย Falls or Gira Dhodh is the one near Waghai. Girmalย or Girimala is the one near Subir, Ahwa. The former one, Gira can be easily reached while Girmal is located quite deeper.

Back to Girmal:

Location: 50 km from Ahwa, 20 km from Subir

Reaching to the Bottom:ย Possible (Very dangerous in the monsoon)

Go straight and arrive at Nishana check-post (12 km);
Take a left turn and Arrive at village Girmal (8 km);

Girmal Waterfalls, Mahal, Subir, Ahwa (aka Girimala) - List of Waterfalls in South Gujarat

Touted as the tallest waterfall of Gujarat, deep inside the wild forests of Dang, Girmal stands tall spawning tiny water particles infinitely. Silver fog and 7 coloredย rainbows are often seen through. Forest department has built spectacular view points and pathways. Safety railingย is roped to prevent accidents. Steps are carved as well to reach near Girmal.

On the way to Girmal, at some point, the river Gira takes a complete U-turn. Forest department has developed a beautiful viewpoint exactly above the U-turn.

Eco-Development Committee of the department also runs aย restaurant namedย โ€˜U-turn restaurantโ€™. Tasty food, do try it.

A full day is needed for this destination. You will cherish the memories of this adventure forever, I assure you.

A fantastic and very useful list and guide on Gujarat water falls. I would like to add some more about NInai Dhoodh… It’s a wonderful place inside Soolapaneshwar Sanctuary. From Dedia pads, the road is fantastic with fresh greenery around, and a river flowing along the road….You have to climb down a few hundred steps to reach the falls, and it can be quite tideous for elders. You can’t access the base but can take bath in the gushing water. Perfect visit during August/ September, once the monsoon weakens….

    1. Darpan Dodiya Avatar

Monsoon is the best time to visit these waterfalls. Views will be breathtaking.

Near Gira Falls, there’s Kilad Campsite.

Near Girmal Falls, you’ll find Mahal Campsite and Maa Shabari resort.

Wonderful to see someone from Gujarat compiling a list of destinations like this. Have been travelling to my hometown Surat but had not heard of so many destinations that you list. Great work. Keep going. Diwali is going to be quite crowded at all these places, but would definitely want to visit them in off-season

    1. Darpan Dodiya Avatar

      Thank you!

Dang and Tapi areas are full of such destinations. In fact, in my recent visit of September, I discovered 3-4 more waterfalls taking help of locals. September is the best month to visit such natural places, as no crowds, rain wouldn’t be much and area would be full of greenery.

If you know any other place apart from the ones listed in the article, feel free to share! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Darpan Dodiya Avatar

      Hi Mr. Ravi,

Lunch arrangements for 120 persons is hard to get.

Generally, schools and colleges bring their own utensils and cook food.

I will contact couple of hotel owners I know of and ask them about your requirement.

Will drop you SMS on your phone number.

    1. Darpan Dodiya Avatar

      Hello Mr. Yogesh,

Unfortunately, there’s no tour operator as such.

Yes, there’s stay facility in Ahwa.

Resort is present at Shabari Dham as well.

Search for “Where to stay in Dang” on Google and you shall find an article from my site. Visit it to get contact number and further information about those accomodation options.

PS. Plan your trip before October month if possible. Waterfalls will loose their charisma by then.
