The Dangs area

Dang is tourism hub of Gujarat. However, being socio-economically backward area, Dang hasn’t been developed much as compared to rest of Gujarat. As an effect of that backlog, despite having many many awesome tourist places, like Saputara, Don Hill Station, Waghai, Ahwa, Mahal, Shabri Dham, Dang doesn’t have many accommodation options.

I have written many articles on travel in Dangs, the most frequent question I am asked is, Where to stay in Dang? What are the accommodation options available?

Via this post, I will attempt to answer the question.

Request: If you’ve contact details of any accommodation center, please share. It’ll be extremely helpful to fellow tourists.

      Hello,

Vansda National Park is closed in monsoon.

There’s decent resort in Ahwa, Maa Shabari Resort and Guesthouse.

      Janmashtami time is fine.

Personal car is not just okay but preferred mode of transportation.

Reply to this comment shall you need additional details.

Caution: I have removed Sanket Holiday Home, Ahwa from the list, thanks to feedback received from a visitor who stayed there. Avoid that place like plague.

The negatives of the place are:
    1) Approach road very bad
    2) Not on the main road
    3) Does not provide waste basket, soap, towel and water in the room
    4) Rooms are not clean and not painted well
    5) Room light is not bright and very dark rooms
    6) Toilets are also not clean and dark
    7) Owner does not pick up phone when we tried to call him for searching this stay

      Hello,

For accommodation, there are various campsites. Mahal, Padamdungari and Kilad — are all government run premises. Though they offer decent accommodation, one shouldn’t expect too much in terms of service and food.

One more option that you could look out for is: Maa Shabari Resort, Subir. You can find photos and contact number of the same from my website.

You can find listing of all possible accommodation at: https://darpan.blog/travel/stay-in-dang/

Maa Shabari Resort offers food as well. Other campsites do not. In Dangs, you can expect to get good food at either Ahwa, Waghai or Saputara. Saputara will have wide range of food options.

I suggest private vehicle to move around. Public transport is virtually non-existent.

For places to visit in Dang and in Saputara, please visit:

      Cheers,
      Darpan
